About Us

Welcome to CCMTAC Online

The Music Teachers' Association of California, incorporated in 1897, is a professional organization of approximately 4,500 members. Throughout its 100 year history, MTAC has dedicated its efforts towards the pursuit of excellence in music education.

Each of the sixty branches throughout the state - from Humboldt County to San Diego - maintains its own schedule of programs and activities and participates in state wide projects and programs. Our branch, Contra Costa (CCMTAC), like all others, is dedicated to supporting and maintaining the goals of the organization that were set over one hundred years ago.

Mission Statement

The mission of Music Teachers’ Association of California is the pursuit of excellence in music education:

1. To promote the stability of the music teaching profession;
2. To maintain the high professional standards of our members;
3. To maintain the exacting qualifications for membership in the
organization, establishing the active member as a qualified
accredited teacher; and  to promote the development of musical
potential and ability in students.
